Shree Giriraj Lifecare Private Limited is a for-profit company incorporated under the Companies Act, which manages the Shree Giriraj Group of Hospitals. The company’s primary objective is to provide comprehensive quality healthcare to the community. The flagship hospital, Shree Giriraj Hospital, was established in 2008 at a prime location in Rajkot, and it has since become one of the finest hospitals in the region. The hospital’s excellent facilities, advanced technology, and skilled medical professionals have earned it a reputation as a trusted healthcare provider.

In 2022, the hospital was rebranded as Shree Giriraj Hospital, reflecting its growth and expansion. The hospital started a second unit in Kuvadava, a fast-growing suburb of Rajkot. The new unit aims to provide quality healthcare to the residents of Kuvadava and its surrounding areas. The hospital’s management team comprises industry stalwarts and healthcare professionals of repute, who bring with them years of experience and expertise. They work tirelessly to ensure that the hospital delivers the best possible care to its patients and meets the highest standards of excellence in healthcare.

Born on June 1, 1949, in the tranquil town of Vadtal, Shri Ramesh Chandra Keshavji Thakkar has dedicated his life to service, spirituality, and humanity. The son of Shri Keshavjibhai and Smt. Menaben, he pursued his education up to the SSC level, embracing the values of humility and perseverance imparted by his family.

In 1974, he married Smt. Renukaben Thakker, a dynamic and visionary partner whose unwavering support has been instrumental in his endeavors. Together, they nurtured two sons—Dr. Mayank Thakkar (MD – Internal Medicine) and Shri Gaurang Thakkar, a Mechanical Engineer—who have flourished in their respective fields, reflecting the strong foundation laid by their parents.

From an early age, Shri Rameshbhai was imbued with a profound spiritual ethos and a steadfast commitment to seva, the selfless service of humanity. A devoted follower of Lord Jalaram, he has been the guiding force behind numerous philanthropic initiatives, including the Shriji Gaushala, Karuna Foundation, Gaushala Vegetarian Society, Jivdaya Abhiyan, and the Vivek and Youth Club. His visionary leadership has touched the lives of many, notably through initiatives benefiting 82 schools and providing essential services such as the seasonal distribution of blankets and slippers to the underprivileged.

A practitioner of Vipassana, his benevolence extends to all living beings. His timely interventions during regional crises—such as droughts and famines in Rajkot—and his remarkable rescue efforts in 2013, where he safeguarded over 600 cows and bullocks and ensured water supply for aquatic life at Aji Dam, stand as enduring testaments to his compassion.

Driven by an unwavering commitment to community service, Shri Rameshbhai founded Shree Giriraj Hospital in Rajkot on September 7, 2008. With Dr. Mayank Thakkar as the Medical Director, Shri Rameshbhai assumed the role of Chairman, while Shri Gaurang Thakkar served as Managing Director. From its modest beginnings as a 54-bed facility with a dedicated critical care unit and a team of 70 staff members, the hospital has evolved into a state-of-the-art multispecialty institution, providing round-the-clock care with a robust team of medical experts.

Today, Shree Giriraj Hospital stands as a beacon of excellence, reflecting the enduring legacy of Shri Ramesh Chandra Keshavji Thakkar—a visionary leader whose life of service continues to inspire and uplift the community.
