Consultant Physician, Diabetologist & Critical Care Specialist
An MD in Internal Medicine (or Internist) is a specialist who focuses specifically on adult medicine. While a General Practitioner (GP) may treat patients of all ages, an Internal Medicine physician undergoes three or more years of dedicated postgraduate training focusing on the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of complex adult diseases.
Think of an MD Medicine doctor as a "medical detective" trained to solve puzzling diagnostic problems and manage multiple chronic conditions simultaneously.
Our MD Medicine specialists provide comprehensive chronic disease management for a wide range of metabolic and systemic issues, including:
Diabetes & Hypertension: Tailored insulin and blood pressure management.
Thyroid Disorders: Treatment for hypothyroidism, hyperthyroidism, and nodules.
Cardiovascular Health: Cholesterol management and heart disease prevention.
Respiratory Issues: Long-term care for asthma and COPD.
By choosing a primary care specialist with an MD, you ensure that all your medications and conditions are monitored under one cohesive treatment plan.
You should schedule an annual physical exam even if you feel healthy. Preventive health screenings are the most effective way to catch "silent killers" like high blood pressure or early-stage diabetes.
We recommend an adult wellness visit once a year to review your:
Blood chemistry and lipid profiles.
Vaccination status (Flu, Shingles, Pneumonia).
Cancer screenings (Colonoscopy or Mammogram referrals).
Lifestyle factors like stress, diet, and sleep hygiene.
Yes. One of the primary roles of an Internal Medicine physician is to act as the "hub" of your medical team. If you require surgery, or care from a cardiologist or neurologist, your MD doctor serves as a medical consultant.
We ensure that various treatments from different specialists do not conflict (preventing drug interactions) and that your overall holistic adult care remains focused on your long-term health goals.
To get the most out of your new patient consultation, we recommend bringing a "Health Portfolio" which includes:
Medication List: Include dosages for all prescriptions and over-the-counter supplements.
Recent Lab Results: Any blood work or imaging from the last 12 months.
Family Medical History: Knowing your genetic risks helps your MD doctor customize your screening plan.
